Milwaukee Ballet’s Pints Before Pointe
Feb. 16, 2012 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The Pabst Theater celebrates the opening of Milwaukee Ballet’s “Winter Series” with a pre-performance mixer hosted by the Milwaukee Ballet Young Professionals in the Pabst’s Cudahy Pub! Hear from the choreographers and sample a new ballet-inspired theme drink, plus enjoy prime seating for the night’s performance. Tickets are $35 and include admission to “Winter Series” and Pints Before Pointe. $1 from every drink purchased will benefit Milwaukee Ballet. Feb. 16-19, 2012 7:30 p.m. Pabst TheaterThree cutting-edge choreographers challenge the Milwaukee Ballet dancers’ bodies with three world premieres. The Company welcomes choreographer Brock Clawson, praised for his “acrobatic and daring” choreography; a new work from Milwaukee Ballet’s Petr Zahradnícek; and Mauro de Candia, the winner of Genesis, Milwaukee Ballet’s 2011 international choreographic competition.
Food and Froth Fest
Feb. 18, 2012 7:00 p.m. – Feb. 18, 2012, 10:00 p.m. Milwaukee Public Museum Milwaukee was once considered the beer capital of the world. Raise a glass to our city’s history — and sample its legacy — at the 14th Annual Food & Froth Fest! Sample stout crafted halfway around the world, or pair a lager brewed across town with appetizers from a variety of area restaurants and caterers. You’ll also get a taste of Milwaukee’s great music scene through an exceptional line-up of local bands. Tickets are $55 for museum members and $70 for non-members. Alverno Presents: Sexy Results
Feb. 18, 2012 8:00 p.m. Turner Ballroom The talented and perceptually skewed Cedar Block presents his new-fangled variety show, “Dig for the Higgs and How the Quest was Won,” which tells the story of one man’s love of science, the trash-talking particle accelerator that broke his heart and the much-theorized-but-we-don’t-know-for-certain-it-actually-exists Higgs Boson particle that will answer the Big Question of life, the universe, and everything. This performance is being held as part of the 52nd season of Alverno Presents, which features performances from some of the world’s greatest music artists at both Alverno and in venues across the city of Milwaukee.
